The Lake House on Canandaigua

Eclipsing expectations with a Finger Lakes resort.

In April 2024, North America experienced a remarkable solar eclipse. The path of totality stretched across 13states, with New York’s Finger Lakes region perfectly positioned for viewing.

The Lake House on Canandaigua, an award-winning resort on the shores of Canandaigua Lake, offered a prime vantage point for eclipse enthusiasts. Recognizing this unique opportunity, the resort reached out to Mower to establish The Lake House as the top choice for travelers planning their eclipse-viewing trip.

Tasked to publicize The Lake House, we knew we had to offer something special. We created a travel package to reflect both the property’s character and its prime position for the eclipse. The exclusive lakeside viewing experience was complete with tailored details (right down to complimentary Milky Way bars). To spread the word, we leveraged our extensive network of national travel and lifestyle reporters to secure valuable coverage in leading travel trade and consumer media.

Six months before the eclipse, we launched a media outreach campaign targeting national and regional travel and lifestyle writers. We promoted The Lake House’s special eclipse viewing package. By highlighting the unique perks and prime location of the resort, we secured coverage in nationally recognized outlets including Apartment Therapy, Travel + Leisure, Condé Nast Traveler, and The Points Guy.

  • 602 million impressions
  • $1.13 million in editorial earned media coverage
  • 84% room occupancy as of two months prior to the event
